I understand that there are many Americans of Iranian descent that wish to contribute something positive to their beleaguered, backward, ancestral homeland. The best thing they can do to help Iran is to stay in America, make lots of money and donate some of it to counter-revolutionary groups that hopefully one day will overthrow the religious nuts running the country.

As far as someone wanting to report the events in Iran, I say leave that to the poor schmucks who are stuck in Iran; the last thing we need is more American hostages in Muslim lands.

BBC News, Reporter Saberi leaves Iran jail

Lawyers for Ms Saberi, 31, whose imprisoning sparked a global outcry, said she left Tehran's Evin jail hours after her eight-year term was cut.

She will be able to leave the country but has been banned from working as a journalist in Iran for five years.

The White House welcomed the release as a "humanitarian gesture".

Ms Saberi was convicted of spying for the US in April but denied the charge.

The BBC's Tehran correspondent says the charge against her was reduced on appeal to one carrying a lesser sentence.

The case sparked international attention and protests calling for Roxana Saberi to be released.

Indeed, the comment my reader left, "Muslim women wear hijab because they want to be seen as a person not a sex object!" is quite laughable in light of the recent reports in Iran that women wear the hijab because they will be beaten senseless if they do not and because there are Imams who declare that women who do not wear the hijab are like juicy steak and have themselves to blame if they are raped. That is why Muslim women wear veils, to avoid being beaten or raped. You are in denial, so spare me the lectures.
