More Back to School Books for Muslims
By Bernie on 08 Apr 2010
The Easter Break will be ending for many students who will be returning to school next week, some of whom are Muslim; so as a public service I thought I would offer a list of suggested books for them to read.
Before I do so, I suppose I should be careful with the word Easter; if Muslims had their way it would be called Mohammed's Spring Holiday and they would have Easter Bonnet Parades canceled 1.
When I went to grammar school in New York City the majority of kids in all my classes were Jewish - yet no Jewish parent ever demanded that the school stop Easter or Christmas celebrations. Jewish kids simply got off from school on Jewish holidays. There was no need to scrap Christian stuff in order not to offend Jews.
The UK, which has more Muslims than the US, has had to remove symbols in schools that might offend Muslims.
So in the spirit of not offending Muslims (many Muslim parents find most western books not suitable for their children), I have found the following books the titles and texts of which have been re-written to be more Shariah-compliant.
So here for your edification are 13 Books redacted for Muslim Children of all ages:
- Little Concubine Women by Louisa May Alcott
- The Vizier of Oz by L. Frank Baum
- Brown Camel, Brown Camel, Can you see the Jews? by Bill Martin, Jr.
- Green Eggs and Hammurabi by Dr. Seuss
- The Jew in the Stew by Dr. Seuss
- The True Story of the Three Little Apes and Pigs by Jon Scieszka
- How the Israelis Stole Palestine by Dr. Seuss
- Are You My Mother number one, two three or four? by Philip D. Eastman
- Horton Hatches the IED by Dr. Seuss
- Harriet the Infidel Spy by Louise Fitzhugh
- If You Give a Jew a Penny by Laura Joffe Numeroff
- Jewmanji by Chris Van Allsburg
- Lilly's Purple Plastic Explosive by Kevin Henkes
Interestingly "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" by John Archambault did not need to have its title changed.
N.B. This is the sequel to my article Back to School Books for Muslims.
This has been a Thursday 13 post [# 53] and is updated on some Thursdays.

Red Squirrel's 'Nut Cracking' Nationalism!, 3 Apr 2009, Easter Bonnet Parade Cancelled as Society becomes Islamified
The increasing Islamification of Britain has seen nativity plays banned or pushed aside for Eid festivals - and now a south Yorkshire school with a large Muslim student population has banned its traditional Easter Bonnet parades outright.
The Meersbrook Bank Primary School in Sheffield, more famous for the forced resignation of a former headteacher after a backlash from Muslim parents objecting to her plans to scrap separate assemblies for Muslim pupils has axed its Easter bonnet parade.
