China Versus the US 2030 AD
In May of 2006, in my fifth month of blogging, I discussed a 17 minute Sundance film Ha Ha Ha America, a documentary from the Chinese perspective (offered in subtitles in “Engrish”) about American political and economic blunders.
It begins:
Ha Ha Ha America
China move fast
too fast for
American hillbilly
So commence cry
as you not keep up
Too bad so sad
Already you behind
Ha Ha Ha
China giant blooming
A slicker, shorter and more cogent argument for eventual Chinese supremacy is made in this ad from Citizens Against Government Waste.
The ad begins by asking "Why do great nations fail?"

I could list a long series of ominous statistics, but just this one alone is very frightening indeed: "Just two Chinese ISPs serve 20% of world broadband users." (1)

If you need a reminder of just how big China is—and just how important the Internet has become there—consider this stat: between them, two Chinese ISPs serve 20 percent of all broadband subscribers in the entire world.
