If you follow a time-tested cooking recipe (1) for a pound cake exactly as to temperature, time, ingredients, order of mixture and method of handling, the product will come out exactly as intended. Likewise in real life if you follow the exact recipe for living as found in the Qur'an, you can expect death, misery and destruction.

Some of my readers will object, "But 99% of Muslims do not go around causing death, misery and destruction." Of course, the reason for this is simple, as I pointed out in my article Misunderstanding the Qur'an, most Muslims cannot accurately follow the Qur'an because most Muslims cannot read, and even if they could read, the majority cannot understand the original Arabic, and many of those who do understand Arabic close their eyes to the evil instructions they find inside.

Fortunately for the world, only 7% of Islam today, roughly a hundred million Muslims, mostly the devout ones, heartily support attacks against the US. I have read the Qur'an and I understand why of necessity the devout feel this way.

The ultimate danger lies in a future where the literacy rate of Muslims rises to a level which permits a billion Muslims to read and understand the Qur'an. Then we are in real trouble. As long as the great majority of Muslims remain illiterate, ignorant, and clueless as to the contents of the Qur'an the world will be slightly unsafe, with an occasional 9/11, a July 7 bombing in London, or a March 11 Madrid bombing here and there.

All these attacks were the equivalent of one Muslim shoe dropping. Now that an entire Boeing 777 airplane is missing, I await the other Muslim shoe to drop.
