Muslims Slaughtered 100 Million Hindus
In my article The Muslim Slaughter of the Hindus of Bangladesh I republished portions of a 1971 Time Magazine article which noted that the Pakistani military's genocidal slaughter of Hindus in Bangladesh was the "most incredible, calculated thing since the days of the Nazis in Poland."
According to Bangladesh authorities, during the 9 months of the Bangladesh Liberation War, 3 million people were killed (80% of them Hindu) (1). Some Muslim apologists claim that it was only 300,000 or so. I suppose that makes it more acceptable.
I don't know why Muslims need to downplay the number of people they murder, torture, and rape. In the old days Muslim generals were quite proud when they completely destroyed cities, beheaded all the males, and took all the women and children as slaves (2).
Some Muslim apologists will excuse the destruction of entire cities during the Muslim conquest by pointing to other conquerors of ancient times, such as Attila the Hun and Genghis Kahn, both of whom razed cities to the ground with such devastation that the cities' topographies were completely unrecognizable afterwards.
The Greatest of Holocausts
True enough. However, Attila and Genghis never destroyed the human contents of an entire country. 1400 years ago the Hindu civilization stretched from Afghanistan to Japan. Then the Muslims invaded the Indian sub-continent and began destroying one of the world's greatest of civilizations. While many other peoples converted to Islam rather than be killed, the Hindus did not go gently into conversion. After hundreds of years of slaughtering Hindus the followers of Mohammed committed one of the greatest of their holocausts: in the year 1000 A.D. the entire Hindu population of Afghanistan was annihilated. Not just a city full of Hindus, not a few hundred thousand Hindus, but every Hindu man, woman and child in Afghanistan (3).
For the next 525 years Muslims continued their campaign of genocide murdering as many as 80 million Hindus (4) during that period. Counting the millions before 1000 A.D. and the tens of millions after 1525 A.D. there is little doubt that Mohammed's followers racked up more than 100 million Hindus in the past 1400 years.

When a Muslim apologist claims that infidels under Muslim rule readily converted to Islam, ask him why 100 million Hindus allowed themselves to be killed rather than convert.

The world famous historian, Will Durant has written in his Story of Civilisation that "the Mohammedan conquest of India was probably the bloodiest story in history".
India before the advent of Islamic imperialism was not exactly a zone of peace. There were plenty of wars fought by Hindu princes. But in all their wars, the Hindus had observed some time-honoured conventions sanctioned by the Sastras. The Brahmins and the Bhikshus were never molested. The cows were never killed. The temples were never touched. The chastity of women was never violated. The non-combatants were never killed or captured. A human habitation was never attacked unless it was a fort. The civil population was never plundered. War booty was an unknown item in the calculations of conquerors. The martial classes who clashed, mostly in open spaces, had a code of honor. Sacrifice of honor for victory or material gain was deemed as worse than death.
Islamic imperialism came with a different code--the Sunnah of the Prophet. It required its warriors to fall upon the helpless civil population after a decisive victory had been won on the battlefield. It required them to sack and burn down villages and towns after the defenders had died fighting or had fled. The cows, the Brahmins, and the Bhikshus invited their special attention in mass murders of non-combatants. The temples and monasteries were their special targets in an orgy of pillage and arson. Those whom they did not kill, they captured and sold as slaves. The magnitude of the booty looted even from the bodies of the dead, was a measure of the success of a military mission. And they did all this as mujahids (holy warriors) and ghazls (kafir-killers) in the service of Allah and his Last Prophet.

In other parts of Asia and Europe, the conquered nations quickly opted for conversion to Islam rather than death. But in India, because of the staunch resistance of the 4000 year old Hindu faith, the Muslim conquests were for the Hindus a pure struggle between life and death. Entire cities were burnt down and their populations massacred. Each successive campaign brought hundreds of thousands of victims and similar numbers were deported as slaves. Every new invader made often literally his hill of Hindu skulls. Thus the conquest of Afghanistan in the year 1000, was followed by the annihilation of the entire Hindu population there; indeed, the region is still called Hindu Kush, 'Hindu slaughter'.

The Bahmani sultans in central India, made it a rule to kill 100.000 Hindus a year. In 1399, Teimur killed 100.000 Hindus IN A SINGLE DAY, and many more on other occasions. Koenraad Elst quotes Professor K.S. Lal's "Growth of Muslim population in India", who writes that according to his calculations, the Hindu population decreased by 8O MILLION between the year 1000 and 1525. INDEED PROBABLY THE BIGGEST HOLOCAUST IN THE WHOLE WORLD HISTORY.
