I Have a Problem with Kentucky clerk Kim Davis

Let me state for the record that I am not gay, as far as I know, nor are any of my sons seeking to get married to someone of the same sex. I am not opposed to same sex couples getting married - people can believe whatever they like as long as they do not put it into practice in the workplace.

That is to say, I do not want a Jehovah Witness employee at a hospital refusing to give me a blood transfusion because it is against his religious beliefs, or a Muslim cashier at a food mart refusing to handle my package of bacon in the checkout counter because it is against his religious beliefs, or a Scientologist pharmacist refusing to dispense depression medication because he believes my depression can be handled with auditing and prayer.

So dear reader, religion is for your private life. Unless you are a preacher, keep religion out of your workplace. Can't do it? Can't abide following the law of the land? Find another job.

If Kim Davis cannot in her heart issue marriage licenses to gay couples, then she needs to resign.

Let us put this in perspective: would any American support a Muslim clerk refusing to issue a marriage license to Jews because Islam considers Jews the same as apes and pigs.
