Reel Bad Arabs - Bulletproof 1988

Bulletproof 1988

In my previous 7 articles we discussed the YouTube video Planet of The Arabs which makes the absurd assertion that Arabs are the most maligned group in the history of Hollywood.

Let's examine one of the clips presented as evidence: at the 6:41 mark, in the 1988 film Bulletproof, a beautiful blond soldier named Devon (played by the little known Darlanne Fluegel) says to an Arab man played by old-time heavy Henry Silva: “In your country you treat women like camels, and send young boys to their deaths in the name of your excuse for a God.”

T. L. Lankford and B. J. Goldman (obviously a Jew), who wrote the screenplay no doubt were influenced by real world headlines. They didn't just pluck these phrases out of nowhere merely to impugn an innocent Arab's reputation.

Three things:

  1. The film is filled with villains: the CIA, Mexicans, Russians, Libyans, Nicaraguans, so no one picked on just the Arabs.

  2. The women in Arab states are indeed treated like camels. Except that camels at least can appear in a beauty contest but women cannot, see my article All Beauty Must be Veiled.

  3. Young boys were indeed sent to their deaths in the name of Allah and even carried passports to Paradise.

It is quite disingenuous to pick a scene from a film that accurately and truthfully presents Arab terrorists and then complain that the film maligns all Arabs. No, the film only maligns terrorist Arabs. Big difference.

If Arab terrorists existed only in Hollywood films, then Planet of The Arabs might have some legitimate claims. Otherwise we see their complaint for what it really is: a desire for Hollywood never to present the truth about Muslims and Arabs.

This is post number 8 in the category Muslim Stereotypes.
