Take My Survey on the Death Penalty
Please read my last half dozen articles on the Death Penalty here and then take the survey below. I will publish the results in one month. I am curious if my readers are just like typical Americans, 60% of whom are in favor of the death penalty.
My view is that there are four main reasons why most Americans favor the death penalty:
- Ignorance: They have no clue how prone to error our criminal justice system really is. For example, most eyewitnesses are mistaken.
- Naïveté: They believe that snitches, police, and prosecutors would never lie, dissemble, fabricate or hide evidence in a Capital Murder case.
- Vengeance: Their base desire for retribution overwhelms their ability to reason.
- Willful spitefulness. They know that innocent people have been executed, but hey, so what? The majority deserve to die.
I have incorporated some of those answers in the poll below. Pick the one answer that most satisfies your position. Go ahead, take the poll - it won't kill you.
If there's any yes or no variation that you think should be up there, suggest it in the comment section. I may add it to the poll.
