For as long as humans have been able to communicate, they have told stories. Stories of great hunts, of heroes, of battles, and stories of creation. Aside from entertainment, the purpose of these stories was to describe proper behavior: for the hunter, how to bring down that mastodon; for the hero, how to rescue a Helen of Sparta; for soldiers, how to fight against hundreds of thousands when they are but 300; for the common people, rewards for following rules and punishments for breaking a taboo.

First off, let me say that the title "Death to All Offensive Bloggers" does not refer to a new Obama Administration Executive Order requiring that all right-wing bloggers be publicly executed. No, I'm talking about Iran's new push to include the death penalty for bloggers who write about or promote illegal activities, such as apostasy, prostitution, etc.

The Death Penalty is no deterrence to murder. If one looked at statistical evidence alone in this country it would seem that having the death penalty in fact increases the incidence of murder in your state.

It isn't even safe for a camel to be in Saudi Arabia - they sure LOVE their camels - wink wink nudge nudge.
