How to Safely Fix Flats on the Highway
Many of my readers are aware that I often give advice regarding health, raising children, the dangers of candles, the right way to cook and prepare food, handling money, and much more.
Now I get to share with my readers some advice that may save their lives.
But first some background: many states have passed laws that require drivers to either slow down if they are in the lane next to the shoulder or to slide over to the passing lane if there is a vehicle with flashing lights on the shoulder. These laws are meant to prevent the death or injury to emergency or police personnel.
But what about you and me, what can we do to keep from getting killed while we change tires on the side of the road?
Well, here is a clever solution by blogger DickieHaHa:
I had a flat tire on the 401 yesterday, so I pulled over, got out of the car and opened my trunk.
I took out my cardboard men, unfolded them and stood them at the rear of my car facing oncoming traffic. They look so lifelike you wouldn’t believe it!!
Just as I had hoped, cars started slowing down looking at the men which made it much safer for me to work on the side of the road!
They are called Emergency Flashers!
