With the Iraq War dragging on forever, the economy in the tank, record high oil company profits—how do people have the energy to get outraged over an artsy fartsy Vanity Fair portrait of the bare back of a popular tween, or a prom invitation scrawled on the bare butts of some high school lacrosse players?

Becky's right that there are more important things to worry about than teen photos and moonings. However, the Iraq War is not a war, it's an occupation much like the half-century occupation of Germany and Japan where we still have more troops than in Iraq. It's not really a war because we lost more troops during Clinton's peace years than all the time we've been in Iraq. A little perspective please.

There are deluded Jews and Christians who believe that the barbaric attacks against non-Muslims and even fellow Muslims alike throughout the world are being perpetrated by members of a small, extreme, perverted brand of Islam and that "true" Islam is probably just like modern Christianity or Judaism; that all that is needed is for moderate Muslims to take back their religion from the radicals.

Then there are the deluded Jews and Christians who have actually read the Quran for themselves and realize that the barbarity of Muslim terror we see today is indeed rooted in the very essence of Islam and argue that we must not condemn the religion when all that is needed is for Islam to go through a reformation and modernization as Christianity and Judaism has done.

It's been two years since AOL and Yahoo partnered with Goodmail Systems to offer businesses a way to send "certified" emails that would cost ¼ cent per message that would bypass spam filters. Since that time I have not received one "certified" email but instead I did get over 75,000 spam emails that didn't make it with YAHOO's email filter.

I like the idea but hate the price. The idea is that if spammers had to pay a small fee for millions of emails they would never be able to afford it, and would also need to be investigated and abide by certain rules.

The price, I estimate, should be a penny per thousand. Here's why: at ¼ cent per email, it's too pricey for a small business that needs to legitimately send a few thousand pieces a day to its customers to ensure avoiding spam filters. A thousand pieces a day would cost a small businessman almost a thousand dollars per year. It's even too pricey for big players Amazon or Ebay. However, at one cent per thousand, it would cost the big guys only a few thousand a year to send a million emails a day.

Indian police said on Tuesday they arrested a man for stealing dozens of frozen sperm samples from a laboratory in western India.

Am I missing something? Whenever I need frozen sperm I simply put my own in the freezer; why steal the cow when you can milk yourself? I know, I mangled the original aphorism.

Another thought came to mind, perhaps the sperm is from American donors? Perhaps our sperm is more valuable than theirs; wouldn't it be a hoot if America also outsourced its sperm?

In February of 2006 I related the story of the Sudanese man who was forced to 'marry' a goat. I discovered only recently that the black and white goat was named Rose.

So it was with deep regret and profound sadness that I learned:

At first blush you might think yesterday's attack on the tanker Takayama off the east coast of Yemen was the reason the United Nations put up blast walls around its main headquarters and closed some of its offices in Yemen.

Actually, the UN, as well as other foreign entities, has had security problems in the country for some time. Earlier this month there was an attack on a housing complex (including U.N. buildings) for Western diplomats in Yemen's capital and in March a failed mortar attack on the U.S. Embassy injured 13 schoolgirls from a nearby highschool.

Last Thursday, 17 Apr 2008 at 22:30, commandos from MEND (the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta) bombed a major pipeline at Adamakiri in Rivers State of Nigeria and caused oil to hit an all-time high of $117. The pipeline is run by a Royal Dutch Shell PLC joint venture. MEND has warned all the oil companies operating along the coastal region of Nigeria to expect more attacks.

MEND's Attacks on oil infrastructure for the past two years have cut Nigeria's normal output of 600,000 barrels per day by 25% to 33%.

Now this morning the 150,000-ton tanker Takayama was attacked about 270 miles off the east coast of Yemen while it was heading for Saudi Arabia causing oil to spike to a record $117.40 a barrel.

I say young ladies but to be fair to all women I suppose I should omit the word "young." Our society worships youth but is that only because of advertising hype? Should we wonder exactly how old is too old to wear a miniskirt, for example?

I am of two minds on the matter. I believe, on the one thigh, that it's none of our business. If a 70 year old woman wants to wear a miniskirt and push bra in the street, that's her business. On the other thigh, if the view presented is hideously unsightly that is another matter. As a society we have a right to ask our local governments to interfere in the private lives of individuals if there are foul and noxious odors emanating from their homes or if they generate noises so loud as to disrupt our ability to function normally.

That's interesting, considering that stops in London and Paris descended into chaos because of anti-China protests.

And today, the Olympic torch embarks on its only U.S. relay in San Francisco as the city braces for massive protests.

Meanwhile, three protesters climbed the cables of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco to hang Pro-Tibet banners that read: "One World, One Dream," and "Free Tibet 08."

Except for Scarlett Johansson, I'm normally not too interested in celebrity news. I like Chris Rock. I watch his show on HBO because I view it more as a strong and witty social commentary on what is wrong with blacks than simply a comedy act. I believe that the black community would do well to pay more attention to celebrities like Bill Cosby and Chris Rock than to race-baiting, cop-hating, antisemitic, bigoted self-promoters like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

But what brings me to write about Chris Rock being in court on Friday? Well, first here's what's being reported:

Chris Rock Testifies In Pellicano Extortion Trial

Funny man Chris Rock was not in a joking mood Friday (April 4th), when he appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom to testify in the Anthony Pellicano extortion trial. During 15 minutes of testimony, Rock told the judge that he'd hired indicted Hollywood private investigator Anthony Pellicano to dig into a since-discredited claim from a model that Rock had fathered her baby.

Rock, who seemed irritated by having to testify, according to Reuters, said that he had hired Pellicano in 1999, but was not aware of the investigator's alleged illegal methods of obtaining information on behalf of his clients.

"Someone who was not pregnant with my child, claimed to be pregnant with my child and requested large sums of money," the comedian explained about why he had hired Pellicano.

DNA tests later proved that the child was not his.

Rock was admonished by the judge for responding "Yup" instead of "I do" during the swearing in, and warned to speak clearly.

Pellicano, who is 64, is on trial for using unscrupulous and illegal tactics -- including illegal wiretaps and bribes -- to obtain information for his celebrity clients.

Visiting the comment section of other bloggers who have posted their outrage regarding the Absolut map version of what the Western US should look like, I read that, "We are taking it too seriously," "it's just an ad," "we're having our leg pulled," "we're xenophobes." In a like manner, I suppose Jews should just take it in sport when Ahmedinejad wants Israel removed from the world, on maps as well as the physical entity itself.

Yes, let the world laugh at us silly Americans: we get insulted and we ask our fellow Americans to write letters of complaint. When Muslims get insulted, how many Imams or Islamic bloggers ask their fellow Muslims to write letters of complaint to Dutch or Danish Embassies?

We are all used to reading about the plight of girls as young as 12 who are forced into marrying older men in the UK. These poor creatures are brutally raped on the wedding night and kept as marital sex slaves for years. I am no longer surprised; I say, "So what?" This is the norm in the Middle East and Northern Africa. Sadly, the English, tumbling into the Islamic inferno as they are, do not have the political will to stop the practice because that would mean deporting all Muslims from their soil. So why do liberals demand that our troops get out of harm's way in Iraq? Why do they care? Certainly no Liberal cares about Muslim lives; we never saw Liberals demanding Saddam Hussein stop torturing or killing his own people. When the Mongol Ruler arrived at the great walled city of Volohoi, he convinced the city commander that Mongols would leave if the city sent out 1,000 cats and several thousand swallows. When he got them, Genghis had bits of cloth tied to their tails and set the cloth on fire. Genghis then loosed the cats and birds against the city. When they fled back they set hundreds of fires. Genghis then had no problem sacking the city.

Blogger In Cogito quoted an article in Slate Online yesterday on startling IQ numbers attributed to various ethnic groups:

... South East Asians 85-90, Africans 80-85, Arabs 83, Latinos 85-90 (Full blooded American Indians even lower).

... Asians(Oriental: China, Japan, Korea etc.) 104, Europeans 100(plus a couple points maybe), Russians(who've gone through a huge amount of internal strife themselves) 96, Americans 100.

Jews and Asians ... score the highest on IQ tests (110 and 104 respectively).

Although that particular Slate article examined evidence for a genetic theory of racial differences in IQ, the next day Slate posted some of the arguments against it.
